A Better Form Of Turmeric Exclusive “TurmiZn-OS” Curcumin-Zinc Complex - Turmeric, which is part of the ginger family, has been used for thousands of years by people around the world and has, today, become one of the most popular dietary supplements available. The active compound in turmeric is curcumin. Depending on the variety, turmeric typically contains just 3% to 7.5% active curcumin. Add to this the fact that due to poor stability and solubility, curcumin is also inherently not very bioavailable, and it is evident that taking traditional turmeric does not provide you with much curcumin. That's why, in Turrific Foods, we use the world’s first commercial curcumin-zinc complex called TurmiZn, a novel patent-pending complex made of 95% pure curcumin which is combined with zinc through a proprietary binding process which results in a turmeric curcumin that is 10-25 times more bioavailable (because it is more stable and more soluble), more absorptive (70%-80% vs 10%-20%) and has significantly higher (8X to 10X) antioxidant properties than ordinary turmeric.
“Zinc-Bound” Complex - Zinc binding is a process in which zinc is bound to a supplement, in this case turmeric curcumin, to enhance absorption and bioavailability. This happens because the resulting complex is able to pass through intact in the GI tract so it can then break back into curcumin and zinc in the small intestine where each is able to carry out their respective biological actions.
